We are delighted to confirm that the Campaign for Wool are once again our Headline Sponsor

Wool is widely recognised as one of the most sustainable and versatile fibres in the world and is as relevant to the very fabric of society today as it has ever been – whether for personal attire and home use or for its many fascinating 21st Century industrial and construction uses.”

Peter Ackroyd MBE, COO, The Campaign for Wool

The Campaign for Wool was launched in 2010 to educate consumers about the benefits of wool and help to support and grow the wool industry. Run by a coalition of industry groups convened by His Majesty King Charles III, when he was Prince of Wales, the Campaign works to engage consumers through exciting fashion, interiors, artisan and design lead activities centering around Wool Week each year.

The Campaign for Wool is a global endeavour initiated by its Patron, in order to raise awareness amongst consumers about the unique, inherent natural, renewable and biodegradable benefits offered by the fibre in fashion, furnishings and everyday life. And importantly, that wool not only biodegrades in soil, adding nutrients back to the earth, but it also biodegrades in the ocean and water and therefore wool does not impact the planet with microfibre and plastic pollution. Choosing wool will help to safeguard the planet for future generations.

The Campaign for Wool is jointly funded by some of the world’s largest woolgrower organisations. Key nation partners include the British Wool, Australian Wool Innovation/The Woolmark Company, Cape Wools South Africa and Campaign for Wool New Zealand. All have shown incredible support and contributed to the global success of His Royal Highness’s Campaign for Wool since its inception.

“The Welsh Wool Company brings together the ethos and heritage of Welsh wool manufacturing, supporting farmers, wool growers and the traceability scheme of the British Wool Board. The Welsh Wool Company is the first 100% traceable Welsh Wool company back to farm supplying to the textile and fashion industry. We work with the most established manufacturers and woollen mills within Wales, and partners who support locality, sustainable design methods and use the most fashion forward technology, enhancing the diversity that wool has to offer. We work with British Wool’s traceability scheme to supply 100% traceable back to farm fleece.

By using this scheme we are able to give the farmers premiums for their wool, supporting pride in their flocks and establishing good relationships between growers and supply chains.

We work with brands to establish their end product goals, being mindful of provenance, scale, traditional Welsh breeds, and what Wales has to offer.

This September we are delighted with the Support of The Welsh Government scheme Rural Development Programme that supports businesses, farmers, the countryside and communities in rural areas across Wales, we are able to bring Welsh Wool to the Worshipful Company of Woolmen’s London Sheep Drive.”

Anna Reed, Founder, Welsh Wool

This project has received funding through the Welsh Government Rural Communities – Rural Development Programme 2014-2020, which is funded by the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development and the Welsh Government.

“It gives me great pleasure to sponsor the 2022 Sheep Drive and Annual Fair in aid of The Woolmen Charity and The Lord Mayor’s Appeal.

I would also like to thank the organizing committee for celebrating this vitally important fabric. Wool has become one of the most effective forms of all-weather protection known to man and it is completely natural and renewable. Personally, and as a company, we champion green issues and have won prizes for doing
so. Our support here echoes our business values of sustainability and reducing our carbon footprint.”
